Much regarded as the gadget of the century, Apple IPad is now in stores all across the world. Did it live up to its name or not is yet to be answered.
This gorgeous looking Ipad is more or less looking similar to the Iphone but not in its size, this one is just like a slate on hand. It is heavy with its glass and devoid of ports and buttons. Those unfamiliar with Apple’s mobile styling will wonder where the USB port and other slots are hidden and, obviously, there is no trick. The device has a single iPod-style jack at the bottom (but charges only on 10-watt USB ports so won’t charge from older pre-USB 2.0 computers), volume buttons under a screen position lock on the right side, and a headphone jack/mic on top along with a small outlet for a speaker on the bottom.

What really wows iPad fans is when their touchscreen does what’s impossible on other gadgets: the finger-painting app that turns a cross-country flight into a moving art class, the mini music studio (two-dozen instruments strong, each with motion-induced warble effects), and the portable fireworks display that you sculpt by swiping.

Apple iPad (first generation) MB292LL/A Tablet (16GB, Wifi)
Personal Computer (Apple Computer)
List Price: $499.00
A leap in the right direction
I've now spent the better part of a day playing with the new iPad, and while it excels in many things there are still some things anyone considering buying one should probably keep in mind.First the good sides:This thing is very fast, opening and closing applications is quick, the screen is incredibly responsive, there is no lag while typing, and the built in Safari browser does a great job of quickly loading even graphic intense pages. The not so good sides:As has been thoroughly pointed out, there is not presently much in the way of multitasking within the iPhone OS, but with most expectations pointing towards a summer release of OS 4.0 this might be remedied by mid summer, and almost certainly by a generation 2 release. That said, it should be kept in mind that on such a little screen being able to view multiple applications at once will likely never be something you'll use, and the speed by which you can open and close applications... 4/5 Craig Whisenhunt - See all my reviews, April 3, 2010Everyone wants things to be simpler, and along comes this simple thing.
The main difference between this item, and the wi-fi only version, is of course the sim card with 3G. So, before I talk about the iPad in general, I'd like to explain my take on the 3G.3G Performance:The BOTTOM LINE: Works good as long as you aren't using it in a moving car. I ran an internet speed test on it and in the metro area it was 1.2Mbps down and 210kbps up, which is decent. The DETAILS: If you are doing basic computing, you will be able to be anywhere within a 3G service area to enjoy the internet. (If 3g service sucks in your area, don't buy an iPad 3g) Here is the only problem: when you pass from tower to tower the signal can hang as the data has to be rerouted to the new tower. Lets put this another way. If you are using the iPad netflix app to stream "Kim Possible season 3" videos to your iPad while driving at 60 MPH it will "hang" during the 22 minute show. In summary: The AT&T 3G works the same as my 3G expresscard from Verizon... 4/5 Just Trying to Help "Product Guru" (USA) - See all my reviews, May 11, 2010Not without flaws, but certainly more than just a glorified iPod Touch!
Having spent some serious time with Apple's iPad since its release, it's easy to see how the device can stir up so much excitement and so much disappointment from all different angles with much less middle-ground. People tend to either love it or hate it. I hope I can shed some light on the details of real-world iPad usage, not just blind claims like several non-iPad users seem to be screaming. I'll detail all the benefits and the caveats of owning the device I've found so far, with hopes that you'll get a clear picture of whether or not the iPad really is for you.For those interested, I've also compiled two iPad listmania lists:Must-Have iPad Accessories:http://www.amazon.com/lm/R1M3AJDBR2BCA7?tag=1pad-20&ie=UTF8iPad vs. Other Tablets:http://www.amazon.com/lm/R3QLZ307253XU6?tag=1pad-20&ie=UTF8===== Background and Initial Reaction =====I'm a mobile app developer who's created apps and games for the iPhone, iPod... 3/5 Scott Showalter "purefusion" (Ohio, USA) - See all my reviews, April 16, 2010Box Contents: iPad Dock Connector to USB Cable, 10W USB Power Adapter, Documentation9.7-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit glossy widescreen Multi-Touch display with IPS technology. 1024-by-768-pixel resolution at 132 pixels per inch (ppi).Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g/n) Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR technology16GB flash drive with 1Ghz Apple A4 custom-designed system on a chip. -

Apple iPad MC705LL/A (16GB, Wi-Fi, Black) NEWEST MODEL
Personal Computer (Apple Computer)
List Price: $499.00
Predictably Remarkable. The best tablet in its 10" class, but still no 7" version!
I was able to secure the new iPad at our local Apple store this morning, as ours wasn't too busy, but I also got to spend a little time with a review model beforehand. In any case, I'll take you hands-on with the new model, plus I'll share my experience from my past two years of iPad ownership altogether, especially for those who haven't yet had an iPad to call their own. I'll also reveal a treasure trove of info on how you can legitimately download tons of quality apps and games for free, in hopes of making this the most helpful iPad review on Amazon! My review tends to run long, so I've organized information by section, with headings, to make it more helpful for those just looking for specific info. For example, see the heading "Downloading Apps and Games" for the info on obtaining free apps and games!First, let's quickly cover what's new, and what each means for you:+ Retina Display - twice the resolution of the iPad 2, at 2048 x 1536 pixels... 4/5 Scott Showalter "purefusion" (Ohio, USA) - See all my reviews, March 16, 2012Good, but ...
I've been a big iPad fan and was waiting anxiously for the third generation to come out. I bought the original iPad, and when the 2 came out, I happily sold the 1 and upgraded. I was thrilled with the thinner, lighter and improved iPad 2. So naturally, when word came out that the third one was about to be released in March 2012, I was right on board to buy one. Sold my 2 and preordered the 3 from Apple the day it was released.I was hoping the third gen wouldn't be noticibly thicker and heavier than the 2, but unfortunately it was. I could definitely tell the difference when reading ebooks, which I do a lot. I couldn't really tell any difference between the speed and clarity of the 3, but to be fair, I didn't compare the two models side by side. I've no doubt the 3 is superior in this regard. I don't use the cameras, so don't care about this since I have a very nice digital camera for that. The one thing about the third generation iPad that really... 3/5 Bookenz (Bay area, CA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Apple iPad MD328LL/A (16GB, Wi-Fi, White) NEWEST MODEL (Personal Computers) I've been a big iPad fan and was waiting anxiously for the third generation to come out. This review is for iPad 2 owners trying to decide whether to upgrade. It also might be helpful for people deciding between buying a "new iPad" and an iPad 2 (which is now just 399, 100 bucks cheaper than the cheapest "new iPad").I was perfectly happy with my iPad 2, a wifi-only model with 32gb. When Apple announced the new iPad, I typed up a long list of reasons why I shouldn't buy it. And then I bought one anyway. (I'll be giving my iPad 2 to my parents.)You've probably already read up on the new iPad and know the list of new features it has, and how the specs compare to the iPad 2's specs. But comparing specs on paper is different than comparing the actual experience of using the two products, and the experience matters more than the specs. I can tell you which of those features, at least to me, really makes the experience of using the new iPad better. And there's only one: the display.I do a lot of reading on the iPad, and this is where... 5/5 Ron Cronovich "Ron" (Kenosha, WI) - See all my reviews, March 17, 20125 Megapixel iSight Camera; 1080p Video RecordingApple iOS 5; Dual-Core A5X Chip with Quad-Core GraphicsWi-Fi (802.11a/b/g/n); 16 GB Capacity9.7 Retina Display; 2048 x 1536 ResolutionUp to 10 Hours of Battery Life; 1.44 lbs -

A Step Closer
For anyone out there who is considering whether or not to make the leap and purchase the iPad 2, this review is for you. If you're still debating between the iPad 1 and the iPad 2 check out my review of the first generation iPad right here on Amazon to see a discussion of its strengths and weaknesses with a number of people commenting (both positively and negatively) over the past 11 months.Let me begin by saying this upfront, I don't work for Apple, I don't own Apple Stock, and whether you buy an iPad, Xoom, a laptop or a pad of paper and pencil I don't get anything for writing this. I'm not an Apple "fanboy" although I can give credit where credit is due and lately Apple has deserved a lot of credit for some of their products.Physical CharacteristicsThe iPad 2 is absurdly thin. More importantly than it's thinness is its tapered edge which feels more natural in your hand. One of the biggest complaints about the original iPad was it really wasn't... 4/5 Craig Whisenhunt - See all my reviews, March 15, 2011iPad pros and cons
People need to be aware that the reviews you see for the iPad often reflect the old Mac/PC platform wars with some people making comments who simply don't like iPads from a distance, without actually owning one, because they see it as part of the deplorable Apple mania they find so distasteful. They're entitled to their opinion, of course, but it is unfortunate they skew the evaluation of this product without the deep acquaintance one needs in order to give it an insightful evaluation.I have taught computer science at the college level for 26 years and have had computers with all kinds of operating systems. I don't own Apple stock and have never known anyone who works at Apple. I therefore have no connection to Apple.I have had my iPad for about a month and read a fair number of reviews before I purchased, spent some time using one at the store, and thought about what I might use one for, in contrast to my laptop with which I am well satisfied. People too... 5/5 Larry J. Crockett (Twin Cities Minnesota) - See all my reviews, April 23, 2011Comparison of my IPad 2 with my Xoom
I have purchased both an iPad2 and Xoom for different family members. I thought it worth comparing the two devices for anyone interested. Many of my comments are subjective so bear that in mind when reading the review.External appearance and feel:The iPad2 screen has a different feel from the Xoom screen - the iPad2 is a bit slicker, less likely to stick when moving short distances. The screen on the Xoom tends to show fingerprints more than the Ipad2 for some reason. Everyone in this family thinks that the iPad2 looks sharper than the Xoom. Both weigh 1.6 lbs. Subjectively, the Xoom feels heavier than the Ipad2, but it's an illusion perhaps caused by it's slightly smaller size. UPDATE: I need to learn to use the scales - the Xoom is about 3 ounces heavier than the iPad2.Both have a similar size screen, measured diagonally. But the aspect ratio is different - 4:3 for iPad2, 16:9 for Xoom. This means that the iPad2 actually has a larger... 5/5 A (Seattle, WA USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Apple iPad 2 MC773LL/A Tablet (16GB, Wifi + AT&T 3G, Black) 2nd Generation (Personal Computers) I have purchased both an iPad2 and Xoom for different family members. This review is for iPad 2 owners trying to decide whether to upgrade. 5 in 1 Card Reader for iPad
Personal Computer (GENERIC)

Did not work
At first glance I was suspicious because the device felt flimsy and cheap, not at all like an Apple product. After inserting an SD card LESS than 1GB, it didn't recognize it. I then tried the USB option and received an error message "not enough power" or something similar.I returned the product...very disappointed. Days later I purchased the 2-device Apple product at Best Buy and it worked perfectly right out of the box. It was sturdy and met my expectations. 1/5 Pilar Binyon (BELLEVUE, WA, US) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) First some background. We own two iPad's, oldest since July of 2009. We were fortunate enough to receive the Apple Camera Connection kit on Christmas Day, and had great fun importing photo's that we'd just taken of our family festivities. Never really saw the utility as a necessary accessory before then. This kit improves over the Apple kit in one important way. It's ONE device as opposed to TWO to carry around! You see the Apple Kit has a separate dongle for USB, and another for SD Cards. This merges them all into one kit.The benefits of this are more compatibility with a broader array of input devices (including some USB keyboards, etc. that you will read about with the Apple Device). . . and 1/2 the chance of losing this important accessory. Now, we have grown to use this kit during photoshoots, and it allows us to view comp's within seconds on the iPad screen, rather than removing the memory stick, uploading to the desktop computer, viewing, etc... 4/5 Brianpxm "brianpxm" (Valencia, CA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Its very rare that I would go out of my way to write a product review but after using this today with some time to spare, I decided why not give it a shot. I have an iPad on 4.2.1 and really wanted the connectivity kit but wasn't sure what was legitimate with all the fakes and incompatible devices everywhere. Fortunately after I stumbled on this one my guts just said go with it, and they were right.- It is fully compatibe with my micro SD, and SD cards- Can also utilize USB flash drives if you happen to be jailbroken- Keyboard support (I am writing this on my iPad with my external Mac keyboard)Summary:I am very Pleased with this product and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone else who owns an iPad and is looking to enhance the experience. 5/5 Aztek - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Kindle Fire, Full Color 7" Multi-touch Display, Wi-Fi
Amazon Devices (Amazon Digital Services, Inc)
List Price: $199.00
A great device WHEN you consider price and function, with a few flaws
The first and most important thing that should be said about the Kindle Fire is that this is not an "iPad-killer." It is not designed to be. I have seen so many articles and comments comparing this to the iPad, and surveys where people are asked if they will be buying a Kindle Fire over an iPad this Christmas. If you are expecting an iPad, or even a tablet, you will be disappointed. The main purpose of this device is to deliver Amazon content to you more effectively. It is designed for consumption, not creation. That is the reason it is so cheap and why Amazon is taking a loss on it. They are hoping to make up for that loss through sales of videos, music, books, and apps through Amazon's Web Services. You can also use it to view your own movies and media, but will find that it is more limited in that way than a regular tablet. Personally, as someone who has ordered several rentals from Amazon Video, and had to contact customer support for every single one of them due to... 4/5 Scott - See all my reviews, November 14, 2011Great device, you will enjoy it
I picked mine up today at Best Buy. At home I plugged it in and set up the WIFI and my Amazon account and it immediately told me that an update was downloading. After about 10 to 12 minutes it rebooted and started working. I own an iPhone, iPad 2, HP Touchpad and a Kindle Keyboard version. This device compares with the Ipad. The reviews that blast the Kindle Fire as being no good are just not true. I am a retired CEO and computer Guru and have a great WIFI set up in my home. Here is my quick and dirty review:WIFI fast and easy to set up and useKeyboard types great, much better than the HP Touchpad and as good if not better than the iPad.Display high resolution comparable to the iPad 2The device downloaded my 100 books in minutes. Most books downloaded to the device in 3 to 4 seconds. A couple of large books took 5 seconds and I am talking about books with 800 pages!Web browsing is extremely fast. I've had a chance to play with the Kindle Fire for a few hours now, and overall I think it is a great tool /toy when you factor in the cost of ownership and what you get. Compared to $500 minimum for the introductory price of the bottom of the line iPad2 (WiFi only), at $199 this is a great buy.Using a Wifi connection at two different locations, the speed was pretty fast connecting to the Amazon server as well as to a couple of Internet sites. I had fast connectivity and display on Fox News, CNN, my personalized Yahoo page, and the website of the International Association of Penturners (hey, I do have hobbies!). I had slow connectivity at both Wifi locations with Google, ESPN, MSNBC, the Houston Chronicle, and the Weather Channel - I hope the unique app for ESPN and the Weather Channel are a lot faster, but I haven't loaded them onto the Fire yet. I will point out with the exception of the Google website, those other sites listed as slow are usually slow on my other... 5/5 Michael Gallagher (Houston, TX) - See all my reviews, November 15, 2011 -
