Caution parents...
I bought this product after reading the reviews and recommendations of many. This 4.0 tablet is light, responsive and fast. If you don't follow the directions on how to touch the screen it will be very frustrating. My real reason for writing this review is to let parents know that the tablet is not able to be administrator locked. All of the apps so far are free, and some of the apps are clearly not age appropriate for those under 18(yikes). Now that I have bought it, I am not sure how to tackle this issue. This android tablet is not compatible with the google play app store, cnet app store, and one other one that I can't remember, but it does allow third party app downloads. For the price, it is well worth the money. I will update my review after my children have manhandled it for a while. 4/5 miskalaylay - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) I bought this tablet knowing I wasn't buying an iPad or even a Kindle Fire. I wanted a cheap tablet that I could take with me when I travel (I usually go out of the country twice a year and the travel times can be lengthy). I only needed something that could give me decent internet and the ability to play games, music, and movies. The Coby Kyros gives me those options and does it pretty well.Cons:The touch screen isn't nearly as responsive as it is on my Android phone, you really need to push down to make your selection. This tablet is not an authorized Google tablet, so there is no Google Play Store (Android Market) to download apps from, it does have a 3rd party app store, but the apps kind of stink. I did find out that a simple "root"ing can give you access to put Google Play on this tablet (which I will be doing shortly). If it weren't for those two minor inconveniences, this tablet would easily get 5 stars from me.Definitely... 4/5 sumemt - See all my reviews This review is from: Coby Kyros 7-Inch Android 4.0 4 GB 16:9 Resistive Touchscreen Internet Tablet, Black MID7033-4 (Personal Computers) I bought this tablet knowing I wasn't buying an iPad or even a Kindle Fire. I bought this tablet for my daughter. When it was charged we tried to download apps and it kept saying it will not work. So I did a lot of things that night and finally figured it out. About a week later the screen turned black. We tried to restart it, but it didn't work. I got my money back but this was definitely not worth the money. 2/5 Jolene Saunders (NECEDAH, WI, US) - See all my reviews This review is from: Coby Kyros 7-Inch Android 4.0 4 GB 16:9 Resistive Touchscreen Internet Tablet, Black MID7033-4 (Personal Computers) I bought this tablet for my daughter. Did you know?
I bought 3 of these for my three grandaughters. You can install the amazon app store on it and get android apps that install easy and play very well. Amazon gives a paid app for free I believe daily. I was able to install apps like Angry birds on them for free and they work very well. I too, was impressed with this tablet, for the money it is a very good buy. I know it's not an IPad and I would not compare it to it either but, out of most budget tablets, this is one of the best. I played with each one for a while and watched videos online. I did not have any problems. The screen is resistive but yet i was able to scroll and type without the stylus unlike some others tablets that i tried out first.I did a lot of searches on the internet and compared many tablets in the same category.I also bought several and had to return them. For me, this was the winner. 4/5 DG - See all my reviews This review is from: Coby Kyros 7-Inch Android 2.3 4 GB Internet Touchscreen Tablet - MID7012-4G (Black) (Personal Computers) I bought 3 of these for my three grandaughters. I have had this for 3 weeks and am very satisfied with it. The get jar apps store is good, plus I downloaded the amazon store apps, kindle, and b&n nook. The speed is decent, connects to wi fi very easily, and works great as an e reader. It comes with headphones, mini usb to usb adapter, stylus, and protective sleeve. The sleeve is just that, fabric to slide tablet in to help protect screen etc. You can store the stylus in a holder on sleeve. I strongly recommend. A great entry level tablet. 4/5 dcinindy - See all my reviews This review is from: Coby Kyros 7-Inch Android 2.3 4 GB Internet Touchscreen Tablet - MID7012-4G (Black) (Personal Computers) I have had this for 3 weeks and am very satisfied with it. I had thought and looked into getting an iPad or one of the other larger tablets, but realized that if I was going to spend that much money that I may as well by a laptop. Yeah, they look cool and all, and the number of 3rd party things for it are out there, but I realized that I really didn't want something that big in size. I wanted something that I could easily carry around, see what email I had awaiting for me to read at some point, could sit and read a book, and play a few games. I had looked at some other 7" tablets, but there was just something about them that just didn't give me the desire to buy them, then I came across this one. It's heavier than I expected, and takes longer to start than I would like, but it works for me.I have had no trouble connecting to wifi networks, the apps that I have added work great, going from portrait to landscape is quick, playing video from YouTube and elsewhere works fine, and I have even been able to make Skype calls with no... 4/5 Mkristo "Mkristo" (Oakland, Ca.) - See all my reviews This review is from: Coby Kyros 7-Inch Android 2.3 4 GB Internet Touchscreen Tablet - MID7012-4G (Black) (Personal Computers) I had thought and looked into getting an iPad or one of the other larger tablets, but realized that if I was going to spend that much money that I may as well by a laptop. HDE 7" Tablet Stand with USB Keyboard - Black Faux Leather Carrying Case
Personal Computer (Generic)
List Price: $32.25
Great keyboard/cover for Coby Kyros MID7024 & easy fixes for other reviewer's complaints
I bought this after reading many reviews on here and noting that many people said it worked with Coby Kyros. Shipping was FAST! I got it in 4 days with two of them being weekend days. The case is nice and sturdy, great hardcover protection. I was aware it came with the keyboard and plug, and that I would have to use my adapter that came with my Coby Kyros, but it was a pleasant surprise to find a stylus was also included and that there is a nice holder for that and for the cord that holds the plug for the keyboard. Many people have mentioned this case does not fit their 7-inch tablets, but there is a VERY EASY fix. Before placing your tablet into the 3 prongs, first bend the prongs downward (toward the case backing) a little further than they are currently seated. I did this and my 7-inch Kyros (which originally just slipped right in) now fits snugly in the 3 holders. I even held it over my bed and vigorously shook the case up and down while it was open and my tablet... 5/5 Stephanie L (Florida) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) The keyboard is really good so I was HUGELY disappointed when I found out it is incompatible with my Kindle Fire! The keys are wide and I can use my big old gorilla knuckle-draggers on it with no problem. The stylus is garbage but the case looks good for a faux leather. Where am I going to find a compatible keyboard for the FIRE?..... I recommend this product for the tablets it is compatible with. For the price there is none better! 5/5 Larry Lambert "Producer-Magic" (San Diego CA) - See all my reviews, December 20, 2011It would've been a good product. If it were compatible with my tablet.
One of the reasons I bought this case/keyboard for my Skypad Alpha is because Amazon showed it in the "frequently bought together" category. I got it in the mail and was really excited because it looks very professional, it adds an extra level of protection to my tablet, and it was going to make typing much easier. The first problem is that you need a USB to Mini USB adapter to even plug it in. The second problem is that, even with the adapter, my tablet wouldn't even recognize the keyboard. I am very disappointed. However, I think I am going to keep it for now just so I can have a traveling case, but I would not recommend this product to any Skytech Skypad Alpha users - it does not work. 1/5 Nicholas P. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!
I bought 3, i thought that they could be good, BIG MISTAKE. Follow the problems found in the 1st day:1. Touch screen is a HELL, they are like the touch screens used 3 years ago. Even with the pen!!2. Camara: i have never seen something worse than this. it does not arrive even to 0.5Megapixel3. 1 of the tablet i just turned on for 5 min, then it will never worked again (after check out in some forums, this is very frequent)4. 1 of the keyboard does not bring the leds, like the othher 2.5. Suggestion: just google epad 7 inches MID, you will see all the comment, and forum.Really, do not waste your money. I'm trying to contact the seller, to see what can i do! This tablet does the job for the most basic use. I bought it for my daughter so she can learn her A,B,Cs. The battery dies quickly and is a bit sluggish. Again, you get what you pay for. It comes with a keyboard which is useful but keys are falling off already. I have had this for about a month. We purchased 3 of these as Christmas Gifts. They were purchased under a seller by the name of advansiagdt. First of all the product came way early....this is normally a good thing except they sat for three weeks and one was broken from shipping (There were several small cracks that were unnoticed on visual inspection. These cracks took some serious investigating to find since the tablets were so scratched up). Still its hard to complain that they came early. Shipping was good. The tablets themselves were just terrible. The touch screens are the worse I've seen with more or less zero touch response. They have a very hard time connecting to the internet. The app store just plain will not work on any of the tablets. The camera is junk. My 6 years year old could draw a picture that looks better and more realistic than the pictures taken with the camera. The usb and ethernet dongle sorta works but does not stay in the port unless you hold it in there. Went from an iPad 1 to Galaxy Tab 2 and love it
So this device just came out this morning, and I hadn't planned on buying it but I was down at my local best buy store and played with it just to see what it was and loved it! Let me say I used to have all apple stuff, apple computer, iphone, ipad, etc. Over the last year my apples have rotted, went bad and needed to be replaced. Instead of paying high dollar for all new apple stuff I went back to a windows PC, an Andorid Galaxy S2 phone, still had the iPad but it was in need of replacement. So I got to Best Buy they didn't have these out yet but they pulled one out and let me play with it while they set up the are for the demo unit to go. I liked it, very snappy, great screen. The device comes preloaded with ICS on it, it's VERY snappy with zero lag so far.The screen while not a retina display like the iPad is still clear enough for me. After all I'm not holding this inches from my face. if you do you get a chance to play with 1 of these before you buy go to... 5/5 J. Haggard (Nashville, TN) - See all my reviews, April 22, 2012Why I prefer the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 to the Kindle Fire
I have a and do enjoy using it (for the most part) -- love the form factor, enjoy the apps that I can get for it and am very pleased with the Kindle eReader app and ability to share books across all our Kindles. But when we were offered an opportunity to check out the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 a few days early, we jumped at the chance. The Kindle Fire is great at what it does, but its custom Android O/S, non-standard Web browser, limited selection of apps, lack of expandable storage and lack of Bluetooth support leave me cold.*Browser Issues*I've experienced multiple issues trying to browse web sites with the Kindle's Silk browser which work fine on the Galaxy Tab 2 and other full-fledged Android devices. Specifically on many sites with Flash content, I get a message on the Fire that viewing the content... 5/5 Chris Boylan "MrBoylan" (Astoria, NY USA) - See all my reviews, April 23, 2012Breakthrough Price & Value
This is a brand new product from Samsung that breaks the $250 price barrier. There are a lot of tablets at or below this price but they are mostly very low end devices with slow CPUs, poor screens and built for non-US markets. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 makes none of the compromises typical of this price point and provides the same kind of performance you'd expect from the rest of the Samsung Galaxy Tab portfolio. It's fast, slick, has a great screen and even has Android 4.03 (Ice Cream Sandwich). I do like the new operating system and adapted to it in minutes. In addition to front & rear cameras there is bluetooth and even an IR blaster so you can use it as a remote for your TV. It only took a minute to set that up and get a program guide downloaded. All the apps on my Gingerbread phone loaded up to the Tab and run fine on the ICS platform. I can't comment on battery life yet as I plugged it for the initial charge and setup and haven't run on battery yet. Excellent Tablet that exceeds expectations
Customer Video Review Length:: 9:54 MinsUpdate 3 March 2012: I got better video processing software and re-added the review at higher resolution to better demonstrate the fidelity of this beautiful tablet. I added an icon to block my email for security. I almost added icons to block my face since this was before my anti-glare screen. I hope everyone likes the better (yet not truly representative) idea of the stunning images the tablet is capable of. Also, the personal image at about 4:50 of the gold particle has little dots that make up the image. Those dots are actually ATOMs in the gold particle lattice. That is an actual image of atoms obtained with a high powered Transmission Electron Microscope (simply loaded on the tablet, noted for edification).Update 20 January 2012: I decided to add a video showing basic functions to those interested. Some of it is inspired from the discussions below (they have good info for owners and interested parties). [Update as of 2012-04-01 below]I'm in a rush and will hopefully write a more in depth review over time. First impressions:Let it be clear: I'm a first time Android user, and first time tablet owner. I've used an iPhone 3Gs for years and have a number of laptops and desktop workstations. I would say that in computing I'm an advanced user, but not an expert user. I do front-end Web development including coding, so I can figure out most things, but I don't have a degree in networking and usually figure stuff out thanks to our friends at Google. So perhaps don't know too much about computers, but I follow directions reasonably well when things start getting buggy. Why I wanted a Tablet:I like to read PDFs at night and my iPhone screen is just too tiny. Moreover, I like to practice my guitar using online or PDF tab and instruction and well as video instruction. A review for those new to tablets AND Android
IMPORTANT UPDATE 11/30/2011: Please read B. Brinton's Amazon review (can't give the URL but it's one of the two star reviews here) regarding inability to update to new operating system. I stand by my original review as to the quality of the tablet, but recommend that you check out Brinton's review before actually buying. Before I even start, I absolutely LOVE my Le Pan tablet. It's a blast to use, has a lot of upside for the things I want to do with it, and has a definite "wow" factor with bystanders. Typical quotes are, "wow," and "I want one" and "that is so cool!" This could be said about a lot of the better tablets (e.g., iPad) that have nice, high def, shiny screens showing video, but I appreciated the coveting looks (and I let people play with it extensively and had trouble getting it back a couple times).I have never used a tablet (well, 10 minutes goofing with an iPad in the Apple Store a year ago) and have never used anything with the Android operating... 4/5 Kilgore Gagarin "Those who believe in telekin... The Le Pan TC970 is an excellent Android tablet, I am honestly thrilled with it. It's extremely responsive, never once did I have an issue with it slowing down no matter how many other things were going on. I'm thoroughly enjoying the TC970, and I think you will as well.Aesthetically the TC970 is very pleasing and stylish looking, it's also thin and lightweight. The build quality is excellent, it's a solidly made tablet on par with those much more expensive.I've had the pleasure of testing both the Motorola Xoom and the Samsung Galaxy Tab, and I have to say I like the Le Pan TC970 much better overall. The TC970 doesn't have a Tegra in it but from what I've seen it doesn't need it, it's more than capable a handling anything you can throw at it in terms of apps, games or videos or anything else. I was truly surprised that the 1Ghz CPU could handle everything I threw at it.The most surprising or actually amazing thing is the battery life, no joke here... 5/5 Kristofer Brozio "dracos" (Pittsburgh) - See all my reviews, July 5, 2011**WON'T BE ABLE TO UPGRADE TO NEW ANDROID OS (ICS - 4.0)**
I got this tablet back in September and was initially fairly impressed. It looked pretty good, seemed to have a good build quality, had fairly fluid graphics and ran on Android. Plus, even though it was inexpensive, its memory was expandable to 32GB through the micro SD. I talked with their customer service folks before buying, and they explained that although the camera wouldn't actually work with video chat for the time-being, when the new Android OS (4.0) came out it would be able to [Note: I've since been corrected that there is other software and other ways of doing video chat]. As I started to use it I realized that Android 2.2 (aka froyo) is really mainly designed for cell-phones rather than tablets. It doesn't use the screen space very well, doesn't support split pane gmail, and is incompatible with a number of apps you'd would hope to be able to use on your tablet (although I managed to find others that still did most of what I was looking for, it was a pain--particularly... 2/5 B. MOTOROLA XOOM Android Tablet (10.1-Inch, 32GB, Wi-Fi)
Personal Computer (Motorola)

The Xoom is a lot like chess, let me explain...
When I first got the Xoom about a week ago I turned it on and I really wasn't blown away. I use lots of devices, and my first impression of the Xoom just wasn't stellar. However, I could see the potential, and so I kept using it, I got some apps, I started to learn the interface and the depth of the features.Sometime during day 2 of using the Xoom it really hit me. The Xoom and the iPad are like chess and checkers. When you first start playing chess (or trying to use the Xoom, in my amazing analogy) you feel overwhelmed and confused. You can't really do things smoothly, you don't understand the options, it just is not a great first impression. On the other hand, your first game of checkers (or using the iPad) is probably going to be pretty smooth. It isn't complex, most all the options and concepts are obvious and easy to understand and your first game is going to be pretty similar to your hundredth. However, as you start to understand the Xoom (or chess) it... 4/5 Jordan G. First of all I want to say that I own both Apple and Google/Android devices. I own iPod Touch and have played with iPad of family member who own the device. I also played with iPad 2 quite a bit at the store as well as from a friend who got it on launch day. I currently own original Motorola Droid and looking to upgrade to newer Android phone this summer. It is difficult not to compare Xoom to its competitor aka iPad 2. Therefore, this review will entail Xoom features (Wifi version) along with comparison to iPad 2.Operating System - An iPad is more akin to a smartphone where as a Xoom is more akin to a laptop (Best Buy actually has it in laptop section instead with other Android tablets like Samsung Galaxy). Honeycomb feels more like a tablet. It's not just a row of apps and wasted space like iOS. Plus, you have room for customization (widget, live wallpaper, theme etc). Picked up the WiFi only version on Sunday. Went with WiFi only because I already have a DroidX and can use it as a WiFi hot spot cheaper than going with the 3G plan for the Xoom. I played with this and the iPad 2 side by side prior to deciding. iPad does somethings better and faster (switching screen orientation) and the Xoom does somethings better and faster. The advantage with the Xoom is having 2x the amount of RAM built in. So things like Google Maps keeps up better on the Xoom. I really like the browser on the Xoom better too, but that, like most of the rest of this, is personal preference. The good:- quality build- great flexibility- great camera's front and rear- fully loaded WiFi only version (still has the GPS, gyro and even a barometer)- Great graphics, nice display- Not required to use iTunes to set it up and use itThe not so good:- Screen is a fingerprint magnet, worse I have ever had.- Not... 5/5 D. A slightly better tablet than an iPad 2, but with a few drawbacks
Although I bought this for my wife as a birthday present during pre-release sales in NYC, I've since used it far more extensively than her so I've purchased a second Tab 10.1 from Amazon for myself. As a background, I also have a good amount of experience using a Motorola Xoom (none with the other Android tablets though) and an iPad 2. Anyway, here are my thoughts comparing the Tab 10.1 with the iPad 2. I won't do a comparison with the Motorola Xoom (which, as of writing this review, is the Tab 10.1's major Android competitor) as the two products are really similar. I'll leave the Xoom/Tab 10.1 decision to you. Here are my thoughts:Operating System/Interface/Web Browsing - Slight edge to the Tab 10.1 running Android 3.1 (Honeycomb). This may just be more of a personal preference as I don't like products (like the iPad 2) which are locked down. I feel a company has no right to tell a consumer how he/she is allowed to use a product (as Apple does with theirs)... 4/5 M. Patel - See all my reviews, June 17, 2011A real business tool
Have had my GT10.1 for a couple of days, and so far it has met or exceeded my expectations in just about every area. I think I have finally found my laptop replacement.Look and Feel: Very solid, no creaks or flex. Grey plastic back really does look like brushed metal, feels good and does not feel cheap at all. Dang, it's REALLY thin and light.Performance: Fast. I have run pretty much all my apps on it and have run videos from YouTube without a hiccup. Very responsive, very smooth. The touch screen in not as sensitive as the one on my HTC Incredible 2 Droid phone , but it is still very sensitive (the one on my phone is almost too sensitive, if that's possible).Apps: Here's the cool part. Because my phone was already an Android device and I had a Google account, when I set up the GT10.1 it immediately and automatically synced, downloaded and installed almost all of the apps that are on my phone. There were just a couple that did not... 5/5 William Greenrose "narcnh" (Claremont, NH USA) - See all my reviews, June 24, 2011It's Good, It Has Flaws, and It Will Improve... if you can wait a bit.
Who is this Review for?Anyone considering the Galaxy 10.1" Tablet or not sure whether to go with iPad or this (or any other Android tablet). If you're very confused by all the entries to the Android Tablet category lately, I'm going to try and help. First things first, if you're definitely going with an Android tablet, FORGET ALL THE OTHERS, this is the ONE (see why below). That is, unless price is a big concern for you, in which case you probably really should not buy a Tablet to begin with, but if you still want one, go with the Asus Transformer. OK, on to the review of the Galaxy 10.1:The GoodIn time this will be better than iPad2. It's a beautiful device. Don't listen to those saying there is some discernible difference in the hardware quality or the "wow" factor between this and ipad2. There really is not. Except for one thing-- you really can feel the small weight difference. Galaxy 10.1 is slightly lighter than iPad 2, and if you pick up one right after... 4/5 J. Best Honeycomb 3.2 tablet so far (updated August 3rd 2011)
I was lucky enough to wake up early today and go to Memory Express in Edmonton and they had one. Stores received a limited amount of tablets and they were all sold out within hours, including here on Amazon. I've been playing with this thing for hours now and so far I've only had great experiences with it.The main feature for me is the remote desktop: you can access your PC, whether it's a Mac or a PC, if they're both connected to your home wi-fi connection. You can control your PC from anywhere and use all of its features. I watched a HD movie and worked on MS Word docs, everything went smoothly. The tablet doesn't weigh much for its size and the IPS screen is amazing, it's the same screen used on the iPad 2. I'm not a person who needs to buy products made by just one brand. I like Apple and I own a iPhone 4, but when it came to deciding which tablet to buy, I went for the Transformer because it offers me a tablet/netbook function, the best of both worlds.The... 5/5 Alex Tamulis (Edmonton, AB Canada) - See all my reviews, April 26, 2011Awesome with one little complaint **Usage Update***
I was one of the lucky view at the stroke of midnight on April 26th, was able to get my order in on Amazon. I just received my tablet tonight via Amazon Prime.I've been on Android since the original T-Mobile G1 released, and have owned an iPad since September of last year, so quite awhile on both. This is my first ownership experience of a Honeycomb 3.0 tablet.Software wise, there's not that much I can add in terms of what others haven't already said. It's VERY refreshing coming from iOS, to actually not be staring at pages and pages of useless icons. The notifications are ABSOLUTELY sweet (i.e. useful!). The app quick access with screenshots adds to a very desktop-esque experience, but with the navigability of a tablet UI.Most things run very smooth, typical of all the standard Tegra 2 devices. Speakers are surprisingly loud, and there are actually 2 of them (stereo). Screen is absolutely gorgeous (IPS).If you're deep in Google... 4/5 M. I purchased the Transformer with the keyboard from Amazon recently. Before I bought it, I was on the fence between this tablet, Ipad2 and the yet to be released Toshiba Android tablet. I had a hard time deciding between getting the Ipad2 and this Transformer tablet since I already have some investment with Apple/Itunes because of my iphone4. But the ability to run flash programs, built in GPS in the base unit, with microSD external storage and a larger screen with more resolution was the swaying factor. I'm neither an Apple or Google fanboy. I just want stuff to work and make my life easier or fun.First, the display unit is very nice and sharp. It is a bit glossy and it will reflect quite a bit and it's also a finger print magnet. It's also has a tackiness as you finger will not glide as easy as you might expect but these are minor quibbles.
